Farm update

I thought it is about time for an update on the farm! I'm not sure if I have many readers.

AnnaBelle our calf is growing, growing, growing! She enjoys lush grass. She has a very cute personality! We are hoping we can sell her soon.

Rosie our milk cow has been giving about 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 each milking! She is pregnant and due at the end of March! We are hoping her pregnancy will go well and she will throw another heifer! We have hardly any grass so she is mainly on hay and whatever dry stuff she can get!

Obie our beef cow is getting bigger as well. He will be in the freezer in a couple of months! It is so nice to be able to raise our own healthy organic meat!

Our old laying hens have been laying pretty faithfully! One of our chickens we found dead on a nest full of eggs. We are thinking a snake must have killed her :(

Our new laying hens are growing and should be laying in a couple of months! We have about 5 roosters and 15 hens! Hopefully they will lay faithfully as well!

Our guineas are the funniest creatures. They free range all day all thought they would rather stay with the new laying hens! They are very good bug eaters! They are very good alarmists!

The quail are doing well also. We only have two left. They should be laying in a couple of weeks! I think we are planning on trying to sell their eggs!

Mister Plush also is doing good! He is one of the best cats we have ever had.

Our garden is very pitiful this year. Since it has gotten hot nothing is bearing fruit so hopefully once it gets cooler then we will get plenty! We are planning on planting cucumbers and tomato plants and probably more green beans!

So there is the update on the farm!

Snake adventures...

The other day we killed this copperhead snake that was eating chicken eggs. Thankfully we killed it. One of our friends were here and she helped us kill it.

The other day I went out to feed and water the quail and there was a cottonmouth snake in their pen and it ate three of them :( I killed it before it got anymore.

Obie is getting quite big!

We thought we had a broody hen, but she ended up
not being broody!!

Dust baths anyone??

Enjoy,
