Update

Today we got 2 1/4" of rain!! :) We desperately needed the rain!

Since it has been ssssooo warm the daffodils are already coming up and there are a few blooms! It is hard to believe that it is at the beginning of February and we haven't had cold tempatures! Hopefully it stays this way and we go right into Spring!

We also are going to start planting our garden! YEAH! R & L are going to till the garden pretty soon and then we are going to plant radishes, lettuce, potatoes, etc. Anything that grows good when it is cool and not too hot.

We are getting about 8-11 eggs a day! We have been letting them free range and so that helps some. We are wanting to get some more chicks in the Spring. We might get some banty's. They are so funny to watch since they are so little.

I would post some pics but the internet is slow.

Enjoying Fall

We have been enjoying the beautiful Fall that we have been having. The leaves aren't pretty, but having it be in the 70's for a high during the day is gorgeous!!! We are so thankful that we don't have snow yet! Fall in Oklahoma is my favorite season.

We moved the cow into the barn for the winter. We have been feeding him hay because the grass isn't growing anymore. Somedays he is so fat I'm afraid the he won't be able to fit through the doorway but he always manages to!

Also, we are going to move the laying hens into the barn with the cow for the winter. Our landlord built some nesting boxes in the barn for them. We have been getting about 7-13 eggs a day. It depends on the day.

Mom and I also have been talking about our garden next year. We are trying to think of what we can do differently in case we do have another drought. If anyone has any ideas then please leave me a comment.

Farm Life

I have been absent from the blog lately. We have been pretty busy.

On Thursday we got 10 turkeys. One of the turkeys somehow got out of the pen and got away so now we only have 9. They are 6 weeks old! The breeds are Bourbon Red and Blue Slate. We can't wait to have Thanksgiving dinner with home grown turkeys! YUMMY!!!

Our garden is growing, growing, growing! We have green tomatoes, peppers and cucmbers on the vine. Soon we will be having tomato and cucumber salad. Our corn is growing as well. Oh I almost forgot we also have green beans that we are going to pick next week.

Next week I am going to my sister Abigail's house. Since she is now pregnant she needs some help with her little boy James! I can't wait!!

Busy, Busy, Busy

We made it through the tornado that went through here! We just got some thunderstorms and a little bit of hail!

My sisters Rebekah and Lydia tilled a big place for corn, so today we put manure in the rows and planted 5 rows of corn and a couple rows of sunflower seeds! I can't wait until we have fresh corn on the cob!

On Tuesday I went to the dentist and I got braces and expanders put in so now I am getting used to what I can and can't eat! I need them in for 2 years!

Yesterday Mom, Susanna, Eliana and I went to our Aunt's house and did some sewing for Susanna and Eliana! It was very nice!
